Mr. Lanphear served as the President of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) from 2007-2009. He also served as president of TCIA: Tree Care Industry Association in 1993 and received the TCIA Award of Merit in 2004. He is also the President and owner of the Forest City Tree Protection Co., Inc, in South Euclid, Ohio. The firm, founded by his grandfather in 1910, celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2010. His firm has received Excellence in Arboriculture Awards for the following projects: Award of Distinction (1999) (For preservation of historic White Oak tree on grounds of the St. Gregory the Great Church in South Euclid.) Judges Award (2000) (For efforts to prepare 1998 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.) Arbor Day Award (2000) (For 17 consecutive years of pro bono Arbor Day tree care services at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.) Heritage Award (2003) (For efforts to preserve historic Jesse Owens Olympic Oak tree at John Ford Rhodes High School in Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood.)
