Professor Cecil Cornelis Konijnendijk (Sweden)
A Dutch national based in Sweden, he is Head of the department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. He is also part-time professor of green space management at the University of Copenhagen. Cecil has a M.Sc. in forest policy from the University of Wageningen, Netherlands, and a D.Sc. (in forest policy and economics) from the University of Joensuu, Finland.

He is a forestry professor at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.  He holds a PhD in Forestry from the University of Minnesota, MS in Tree Biology/Urban Forest Health from University of Illinois, a BS in Urban Forestry/Botany from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and an AAS in Horticulture Technology from the University of Minnesota-Waseca.

is professor in the Department of Building, National University of Singapore. Currently he is the Deputy Head in the department in charge of academic matter. He is the president of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) Singapore chapter. He is also the Research Thrust Leader for Planning and Design, NUS-JTC Industrial Infrastructure Innovation (I3) Centre and the Research Group Leader for the Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities (CSAC). He has been the Principal Investigator for a number of research projects funded by the various Singapore government agencies to study the natural ventilation performance of hawker centres, public housing and the Zero Energy Building of BCA.

is full Professor at the Department of Agri-Food and Environmental Sciences – University of Florence (Italy).   Chairman of the bachelor degree (undergraduate) in “Nursery Techniques and Green Areas Planting and Management” at the University of Florence.   Senior director of the international journal “Advances in horticultural Sciences” President of the Consortium for the Monitoring of Carbon Balance of the University of Florence.
His research is addressed to experimental studies regarding Urban arboriculture with particular emphasis on the:  Effect of water stress on growth performance of newly planted trees and selection of drought tolerant species.  Evaluation of the ability of shrub and tree species to mitigate the effect of pollution in the urban and periurban environment planning the green city in the global change era: urban tree functions and suitability for predicted future climates (TreeCity)

HK Conservancy Association Conservation Director, member of Old and Valuable Tree Expert Group of LCSD; with over 15 years of experience in afforestation and urban tree management fields. Ken is a Certified Arborist, Certified Municipal Specialist, and Certified Tree Worker.

Jeff began working as assistant horticulturist at Parrot Jungle in 1975 during second year of college. Parrot Jungle was a privately owned tropical theme park.
When the park was sold in 1988, he became the director of horticulture. He was responsible for the rebuilding and relandscaping of the park in 1992 after Hurricane Andrew.
The park was relocated to a completely new site in Miami opening in 2002. He was responsible for landscaping and hardscape on the 18 acre site. He retired from this park in 2014.
Now he is president of my own consulting company, Tropical Designs of Florida. He works with architects and developers worldwide assisting in tropical plant, tree, and animal management issues.

     Call for Presentations for the IAS-HK Summit

The theme this year is:
“The Benefits of Trees in Our Concrete Jungle”

We welcome individuals in the region to submit their presentations,especially in the areas of handling trees in challenging environments within the Asian urban environments.
The time slots for speaking at the conference will be approximately 30 minutes. Airfare, full registration, and hotel stay for 3 nights will be provided for the one (1) individuals from outside of Hong Kong but within the Asian regional vicinity.

Presentations will be evaluated based on overall quality, appropriateness and timeliness of topic, well-defined focus, practical application of material, and the subject’s interest to a diverse audience.
